I'm remodeling a laptop PC into a digital picture frame. The goal is to have a frame to hang on a wall, independent from any computers, displaying a picture or a slideshow of pictures.

I have a crazy idea about rebuilding a flatbed scanner into a moving film scanner.

The goal is to scan a bunch of 8mm ("Double8") film to DV for editing and finally to CD or DVD, a process sometimes called "Telecine".
